Overview:
As of 2022, I have traced elements of my family back to the 1500s. I have also completed DNA testing that shows my DNA comes from Jutland and Europe in general. I think from the DNA results, we can conclude that it is likely part of my family migrated to the UK in the Anglo Saxon invasion which is dated between 400-600AD.
This means I have a roughly 1000 year gap to fill.
Genetics:
I had my DNA tested by 23andMe just to understand the basics of my genetic make up, and this is what I got back:
I am 100% anglo Saxon apparently
My mother's side comes from Jutland so likely a Jute.
On my paternal side, the haplogroup is:
... and essentially this means that his ancestors would have been in Western Europe as far as the Atlantic coast. So I think it is also possible that his ancestors came over as part of the anglo Saxon migration.Overall my genetic make up is western european, which as far as I can tell, means essentially anglo Saxon. With my maternal haplogroup indicating Jute ancestry.
